Sasol Mining: Fully Integrated Operating Model
Design and implementation of a fully integrated operating model for the entire Sasol Mining business including 5 underground coal mines, 11 shafts and 53 sections (each with its own continuous miner). Scope included all aspects of production, quality, stoneworks, logistics, asset management, safety, support functions, management processes, integrated planning, systems simplification, leadership development and culture.
Ten major workstreams within the following 3 key platforms of work: Co-design and implementation of Integrated Operations; Transforming the organisation and culture; and Building the supporting platform for a digital technology business.
Rio Tinto: RTIO Future Operating Platform
A major transformation strategy for Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s massive iron ore business in the Pilbara, to competitively position the business for the future, with a streamlined, simplified and more sustainable new operating model.
Identified billions of dollars of value that could be unlocked through Integrated Operations, by introducing innovative techniques to: optimise whole-system value; improve alignment and discipline around schedule execution; and radically simplify the working environment.
Komatsu: Joy Global integration
Primary support for the global integration of the Komatsu and Joy Global mining businesses, following the multi-billion dollar acquisition.
A three phased engagement process including: Diagnostic and Engagement; Co-Design; and Implementation. Involving the NextGenOpX teams working closely with the global executive team of the combined mining business, as well as the management teams in key regions across North America, South America, Australia, Africa and Europe to develop the vision for the combined business, the integration strategy, communications planning, operating model design, implementation plan, and business case.
